Ohio Animal Identification
January 19, 2008

Welcome to the Ohio Animal Identification Web Site! This site contains valuable information about Ohio’s voluntary National Animal Identification System (NAIS) in Ohio. The goal of the NAIS is to identify all premises and livestock in the U.S. that have had direct contact with a foreign animal disease (FAD), or other diseases of concern, within 48 hours of discovery. The NAIS will protect American animal agriculture by providing producers and animal health officials with the infrastructure to improve efforts in current or emerging disease eradication and control; by providing proper traceback and traceforward capabilities for a timely response; and by addressing threats from deliberate disease introduction.
